Interim Home Sweet Home

A home gives a person strong sense of belonging. It has been almost a year I have left my hometown Hong Kong to study in Savannah. I miss home. Whenever I see similar scenes in Savannah, I naturally associate them to the streets of Hong Kong. This inspires me to connect the scenarios of two places together in one image. To create the images, I selected some of my film photographs taken in Hong Kong to be the subject of the photographs. Wandering in Savannah, I looked for connections between the photographs and the streets. Through the use of optical illusion, the two cities are blended into one single image. To create a smoother connection, I worked with a relatively smaller aperture to increase the depth of field. I also made use of the flashlight to ensure my film photographs are exposed correctly. Being home is always great. Through making these images, I feel like home.
